Sonny's Money

Sonny finally had enough courage to take the Cloyd’s money filled envelope. I felt a sense of excitement for Sonny after he took the money solely because we all know how much he dislikes Cloyd. The way Sonny was feeling after he took the money was probably the way we would have all reacted. All panicky and paranoid, “sonny.” My body jumped like it was him, even though the voice obviously wasn’t. (pg.159) An example of Sonny feeling the nervousness soon after he took the money.
I believe Sonny will just stash the money in his room for now and take out little by little whenever he goes to the bowling alley. I feel that he will also spend some of that money on the two girls he’s talking too, Cindy and Nica. Im very anxious to see if Cloyd will find out about the missing money and what he’ll do if or when he does find out. His mother probably wouldn’t do much if she were to find out the money was missing, just like how she barely did anything after they found the magazine he had stolen. I read a few pages ahead of what we were supposed to and I sort of think Sonny will use a majority of his money on one big purchase, I just can’t get my finger on exactly what that is going to be, I just hope it will be on something useful and worth having.
If I was in the same situation as Sonny I would hide the money in several different spots, that way if someone was to find it they would only have a portion of it. As Sonny did I would not tell anyone about me taking the money either, because once someone else knows it’s not going to be a secret for much longer because misery loves company. I would definitely be paranoid as well because stealing a lot of money under someone’s nose just like that is a nerve wracking experience.  I think I’d spend all that money on basketball shoes and Jordan shorts because those are a man’s best friend.
I don’t think I’d ever want to put myself in Sonny’s situation though because it would be emotionally draining on ones self, I also believe it will give you a guilty conscious stealing that much money from someone you live with. All in all I hope to read about Sonny making the right choice with the money in the pages coming up.
